MIPI, or Mobile Industry Processor Interface, is a new standard of interfacing between a video input source and the display on mobile devices that is rapidly gaining popularity. Interfacing between other more popular standards of video output, such as LVDS or HDMI, is less easy than it may seem as there are no simple small scale converters or adapters between the two. Even when one can find a converter between the signals that works, they don’t necessarily provide the display in the correct orientation for the target device.
SmarterGlass has procured a custom built monitor for a customer recently, and can do the same for you!
Pictured below is a custom 27″ monitor with build in touch screen capabilities. Not only does this panel feature an internal display controller, but is ready for immediate use with VGA, HDMI, or DVI inputs.
I found that it was relatively plug and play: plug in the monitor, the visual input, and connect a standard USB A-B cable (commonly, printer cable). Using Windows 10 for its native support for touch devices, the monitor itself proved to be a fun and interactive multitouch panel, supporting up to 10 simultaneous touch inputs.
Additionally, if your video input cable is loose or gets unplugged it can make an amusingly large trackpad for your primary monitor- although there are probably better options if you’re interested in that.
All in all, this high resolution 1080p monitor is a fun way to interact with your desktop- and due to its compatibility with Mac OS and Windows 8, 8.1, and 10, will have you using it in no time.
