CDTech (H.K.) Electronics Limited was founded in 2009 in Gushu Bao’an Shenzhen, China and is prominently involved in the design, manufacture, and sale of LCD, LCM, Touch panel, and UART LCM products. As such, they provide all standard OEM/ODM services including software, hardware, and additional product support.
Tianma Microelectronics Company, LTD is the largest manufacturer of passive and monochrome LCDs in continental China with a manufacturing plant of nearly 1.2 million square feet (27.55 acres). Since its foundation in 1983, it has strived for excellence in producing the latest and greatest LCD display modules. Recent projects and research currently include LTPS-TFT, Oxide-TFT, AM-OLED displays, Flexible displays, Transparent displays, 3D displays and In-cell/On-cell integrated touch technology, making Tianma a forerunner of the electronic display industry.
LG Innotek manufactures high performance, quality LCD display panels for many products in varying markets. From manufacturing automotive parts to fine semiconductor electronics, the CEO Jong-Seok Park states the company operates on the belief that “components and materials determine the quality of the end products.” As such, the company specializes in high grade electronic and automotive components, often in lieu of retail and point of sale products.
Mitsubishi Electric is a global company specializing in the manufacture, production, and sale of electronics and technologies. Officially founded on January 15, 1921 in Tokyo, Japan, this industry leader extends its reach through a range of applications. In addition to the LCD industry, Mitsubishi manufactures electronic equipment used in Energy and electric systems, automation, information and communication systems, electronic devices and microprocessing, and home appliances.
Fun Fact: Similarly to some other LCD manufacturers, Mitsubishi panel part numbers also include the length of the diagonal of the panel in the panel number. Ex. AA192AA01 is a 19.2” panel.
E Ink is a world renowned innovator in display technology through its development and use of electronic paper display technology.
Another company specializing in small and medium sized LCD modules, Ampire was established in 1998 as an industrial control panel manufacturer. Now, almost 20 years later they continue to be a prominent company in the display industry, providing both touch and non-touch display solutions.
Although their largest panel is only around 16″ on the diagonal, they provide a wide range of panel sizes and a variety of resolutions for each size, typically chosen based on the application. Ampire specializes in outdoor applications, providing rugged and damage-resistent paneling than most companies offer, making them ideal for indoor and outdoor industrial applications. Most displays are also high-brightness, making them perfect for use outdoors where they will need to provide contrast in direct sunlight.
Fun fact: Ampire part numbers contain the resolution of the screen immediately after the ‘AM’ prefix. Example: AM1024768H1 has a resolution of 1024x768.
Established in 1971, Chunghwa Picture Tubes (CPT) is a panel manufacturer for automotive, industrial, and tablet applications. As the name implies, they started out making CRT screens that quite literally required ‘picture tubes’ to project images onto a screen.
Now, they have developed into an international opto-electronics manufacturer utilizing any and all modern technology they have available to them, and researching those which are not yet available. Lately, they have evolved into developing and producing small to mid-sized panels. However, they mainly specialize in smaller panel applications for what would be found in a car or on a tablet, usually only getting as large as 10.4″ on the diagonal.
Fun Fact: The 3 numbers following the 4 letter prefix for any CPT part number is representative of the panel size in inches (i.e. CLAA101ND06 CW is a 10.1” panel).
