DLC has released a new small high-resolution OLED display for augmented reality and virtual reality applications. This display less than two-fifths of an inch in size is 1080p.
Both eyes having access to native 1080p displays will make games, movies, and other immersive experiences look stunning. OLED displays with their inky blacks and high refresh rates will increase immersion and reduce motion sickness. If you were wondering about the vibrancy of colors, the screen’s brightness is 500 cd/m2.
With new casinos being built from England to Vietnam and the recent US Supreme Court Ruling on sports betting the number of display-based games is increasing dramatically. This increase is not just due to new facilities and opportunities, but also because of monetary return.
“Slot machines remain the most important money-making part of casinos in the United States. In many states, casinos make between 65 and 80 percent of their gambling income from slots. In Las Vegas, the percentage varies from 88 percent in casinos that cater primarily to locals to 50 percent on the Las Vegas Strip, where high rollers betting tens of thousands a dollar a hand skews the results in favor of table games.”
While these games offer greater customer interactivity and engagement, they come with different replacement part challenges. Recently, the display panel industry has been facing new changes and developments that may affect the global supply chain. Through a series of market forces such as reinvestments, new more promising technologies, and the reallocation of priorities have caused there to be a significant impact on the production and subsequently the availability of small and medium-sized color TFT panels, in addition to premium IPS wide screens.
In short, major Korean manufacturers of these mid-sized panels have recently gone through a change in market strategy, from developing small panels to researching and producing newer more profitable displays.
Due to a recent increase in the production of small panels in China, some of Korea’s prominent panel manufacturers such as LG and Samsung have begun to move towards large-sized LCD panels and OLED panels. Smaller TFTs will ultimately prove to be no longer profitable as the lower-cost manufacturing in China will reduce profits for Korean panel manufacturers.
