People think LCDs, especially touch screens, are easy to break and are just generally unreliable. Smartphones are a prime example of this- who hasn’t dropped their phone and had cracks running across the screen or worse, had it break entirely?
In phone screens this may be true- being the commonly used devices that they are- but in most devices they’re more reasistant to damage than people expect. Cover glass and other solutions are also possible if the need arises for more robust displays, though for especially strenuous conditions custom made, highly robust displays can be sourced and produced.
In short, LCD displays are becoming more and more popular in our everyday lives, and current trends show increased usage in an increasing number of devices. LCD, OLED, and LED displays and touch screens are the future of device interfacing, and act as both a reliable and an intuitive method of using devices.
